Favourite Kids' Stories

I get a lot of comments about our Spot the dog and Maisy mouse buntings, and queries about when our new stock will be in; and I thank you all so much for your love!  Classic children's storybooks are one of those things that we never stop loving.  And how could you not love Spot or Maisy?

Just having the partially-completed buntings sitting in my work space makes my creative area so cheerful and bright!

Grab a Spot or Maisy bunting to brighten your little one's room (or one of each!), and don't forget to tag @domumvindemia on social media when you show off your new purchases.

Jane Austen's Silhouette

Janeites, amidst all the current doom and gloom, I have been keeping myself occupied with lots of creating, baking and gardening.

I have also spent a lot of time staring at bare spots on my home's walls, and thinking up new ways to adorn my home.

Which leads me to today's announcement, my OFFICIAL LAUNCH of the very exciting literary silhouette range!

Created by printing an outline of Jane Austen's silhouette on orphaned pages of Pride and Prejudice and Sense and Sensibility, these regency-inspired wall art pieces are a fun way to celebrate your love of reading.

I am really loving this new range of wall art, and am planning to add more pieces in the future, perhaps a silhouette of Sherlock Holmes or Charlotte Bronte.  Which famous authors or literary characters would you like to see remembered in art form?

The scales of justice

I was recently commissioned to create a uniqe art work to be given as a gift to a lawyer.  The brief (as it were)?  To design and produce quirky dictionary page art featuring the famed "scales of justice" that is so often featured at law courts and in other legal settings.

My customer and I ended up selecting a vintage illustration of a set of balance scales, the kind of thing that would have once been used in apothecaries or old-fashioned post offices.  This was then printed onto a dictionary page defining the word "justice", and finished off with a black framing mat.
I love the look of this whimsical but also regal-looking art print, and I hope its new owner will hang it pride of place in their law office!

Christmas in July

For those of us who live in the southern hemisphere, the traditional northern hemisphere trappings and activities of a wintry Christmas are not something we usually experience.

Which is probably why "Christmas in July" has become such a popular winter time activity for many in Australia and New Zealand (among other countries).

Here are six pointers to help you start planning your Christmas in July festivities - enjoy!

1. Party Invitations

Get your friends pumped for your festivities with gorgeous invitations that will set the theme for the day.

2. Ugly Sweater

I'm not normally a fan of the ugly Christmas sweater/jumper fad, but it's Christmas in July, so why not go for some kitsch?

3. Christmas Accessories

And while you're wearing "festive" clothing, don't forget to add a Christmassy touch with your accessories too.

4. Christmas Cake

Wow your guests with a beautiful Christmas cake that you'll actually feel like baking since it's winter time.

5. Servingware

You can't have a Christmas in July celebration without gorgeous, themed servingware for all your treats!

6. Christmas in July Events

And if you really aren't up for hosting a Christmas in July function, then head to your city's local events with your family and friends instead.

Bohemian Buntings Are Back!

Lovers of boho chic decor, I'm excited to announce that after a short break, our fan favourite boho doily buntings are now back in-store!  There are currently two mini buntings and one full sized bunting available, as well as our other bohemian favourite, vintage napkin buntins.

Of course, if you have a specific bunting size or colour scheme you need, feel free to drop me a line to commission a bespoke bunting for your celebration.  What colour would you love to see?

Dr Seuss is in town!!!

Mamas and papas, THANK YOU so much for all the appreciation I received for the first of our Dr Seuss bunting range that I introduced at the start of the year!  I'm so thankful for all the love, as I've finally expanded the range with new additions and a re-stocking of the very first Green Eggs and Ham bunting.

For the moment, I've added Cat in the Hat, Fox in Socks, and Oh, the Places You'll Go buntings to the range, and am hoping to add The Sneetches and Mr Brown Can Moo to the range too.
And if you've got any favourites you'd love to see adorning your little one's room - drop me a line, I'm always happy to take special commissions!

Maisy Maisy Maisy Mouse!

Mamas, if your little ones are anything like mine, they probably adore Maisy Mouse and her friends Eddie, Charley, Tallulah and Cyril.  These adorable animals have entertained a generation of preschoolers, so I am very excited to launch my brand new range of Maisy Mouse buntings!

Currently available in two designs, I have plans to add more buntings to the range as time allows.  Which Maisy stories would you love to see in bunting form?

Dr Seuss, Paddington Bear, and more buntings in-store!

It's been months since I've shared about my latest bunting creations, but that doesn't mean that I haven't been working on all new designs for my lovely customers!

I've spent this summer holidays searching for new designs to create, and today I'm showing off two of them for your bookish pleasure.

The first is an expansion of our existing Paddington Bear bunting range, a range that has been so popular that I'm struggling to keep them in stock.

As a long time fan of Paddington, I just love that others love Michael Bond's stories about this quirky bear as much as I do!

This second bunting is one that I have been hoping to make for some time now - a Dr Seuss bunting!

Another of my childhood favourites, I am so thrilled to finally start stocking these whimsical stories in bunting form.

But please, feel free to comment below if you have any other childhood favourites you would love to see in-store!

Have yourself a very scented Christmas

Christmas lovers, it's that time of year when our nearest and dearest do their best to restrain our Christmas decorating enthusiasm to reasonable limits!

But never fear, I am here to enable you in your Christmas joie de vivre!!!

Although Mr Monkeys is adamant that we won't be pulling out the Christmas decor until December, I have been happily working on our brand new range of Christmas ornaments for Domum Vindemia.

Created from vintage doilies and table linens rescued from landfill, these Christmas tree-inspired ornaments not only look pretty, but will smell great too!

The tree's "trunk" is made from balsa wood which will deliciously hold your favourite scents just like a reed diffuser.

All you have to do is add a few drops of your best essential oils to the trunk of the Christmas ornament and your home will be beautifully scented!

There will be three initial designs in this range, with more to be added as I can.  Let me know which design you love best!

Thomas & Friends

Mamas, you've been asking when Domum Vindemia's popular Thomas & Friends buntings will be re-stocked, and I'm excited to announce that our re-stock has finally happened this week!

There are currently three Thomas the tank engine buntings in-store, with another two to be in-store soon.  There's a fun Christmas-themed Thomas bunting, perfect for getting your little one's room ready for the festive season, and the other buntings will feature Thomas and various others of the favourite characters.

So comment below, which Thomas & Friends characters do your little ones love (other than Thomas)?

The Care Bears Family Comes To Domum Vindemia

A month ago I announced that I had expanded our party supplies range with the addition of May Gibbs cupcake toppers and matching buntings.  So today I am excited to announce that I have further added to the party range with a slew darling Care Bears creations!

At the moment there are two Care Bears buntings and a few sets of cupcake toppers available, perfect for those of us who have fond memories of the Care Bears when they first made their debut in the 1980s.  This new range of party supplies also include some of the newer bears that were unveiled in the "noughties".

As mentioned, this is a very limited range for the time being, so lovers of the Care Bears will need to get in quick to ensure these darlings come home to you.  Which bunting do you love best?  And who was your favourite Care Bear when you were a child?

Delight with May Gibbs

About a month ago I blogged about our latest restock of our super popular May Gibbs range of homewares and party decorations.  Well, I have been hard at work to further restock this delightful gumnut babies range!

I am very thankful to all of my wonderful supporters who have been making purchases or sharing news of our latest restock, with some of the new additions already sold out and others selling fast.  So if you're planning to add a touch of May Gibbs wonder to your little one's nursery or birthday party, you'll need to act quickly to grab the one you love.

Moon-Face, Silky and The Saucepan Man

Hello!  I have been having so much fun recently adding a bunch of new storybook buntings to the store.  Today I'm showing off one of our latest additions and a long time favourite of mine, a Magic Faraway Tree bunting!

I first read Enid Blyton's Faraway Tree series as an eight year old and was pretty pleased at how much my Cheeky Monkeys loved the stories when they were a similar age.  So you can imagine how excited I was to find some battered old Enid Blyton picture books perfect for bunting making!

This is just the first of what I hope will be a permanent range in Domum Vindemia, but I would love feedback from my lovely readers.  Which Enid Blyton stories did you love best when you were growing up?  And which would you like to see in bunting form?

Snugglepot and Cuddlepie

I still vividly remember the day I decided to start creating Snugglepot and Cuddlepie buntings for Domum Vindemia four years ago.  It has been one of my more inspired ideas, thanks mostly to my wonderful customers and supporters and is a range that is still going strong and one that I struggle to keep in stock!

Which is why I'm excited to announce that as of this week, there are two new May Gibbs buntings in-store AND, for the very first time, darling cupcake toppers that perfectly match the buntings.  It's not often that I have enough spare illustrations to create cupcake toppers, so I'm very excited to finally have this chance.  Which one do you love best?

Bookish Wall Art

All the way back in 2010 I launched a new range of bookish homewares, our dictionary page art print range.  Four years later, I stopped creating this range to focus on other creative lines, but now these quirky prints are back in-store at Domum Vindemia!

I will only be doing a limited edition range of art prints, so it is very much a situation of order your favourite while it's still available.  The current range features some of my all time favourite designs, with vintage chandeliers, darling seashells and retro motorcars gracing beautiful old dictionary pages.  Which is your favourite?

Avengers Assemble!

Hands up if you're a mad keen Avengers fan!  And hands up if you've seen the latest film, Infinity War!  And triple hands up if you have or know some mini Avengers fans!  Domum Vindemia's Avengers buntings have been popular for birthday parties and nursery decor, so I've been adding more to the store.

The newest bunting features some of my favourite Avengers: Wasp, Ant Man, Thor and Captain America.  And I love the story's theme of the Avengers being strong on their own, but being much stronger when they work together!  Which is your favourite Avenger?
